Fighting spammers and other disruptive behavior on the forum

The staff here at WEGC will work hard to make this forum a place where all of you good folks can enjoy posting, reading, learning and sharing among your fellow like-minded individuals. We will continue to work as hard as we can to keep this a friendly safe place for this.
Spammers and internet bots will occasionally post here and try to disrupt our community. Many of these spammers are "bots", or automated programs that register on forums and then go to work posting undesired posts and useless nonsense. Some are real individuals with no redeeming qualities in their pathetic excuses for lives who spend their time hacking and trashing forums.
We are working hard to keep such trash from flooding this board and disrupting our community. Because of these efforts, we have to add extra levels of control and security. This may slightly inconvenience you, but will assist us in providing a safer forum.
Many of these things are registering using user names that are nonsensical jibberish. Every user and poster is required to use their real name in the post. It is suggested that you change your profile to include your real name. Full WEGC members will be required to include their full names and membership numbers in order to access the MEMBERS ONLY areas. All other posters must include their real names if they post.
We must request that all forum users subscribe to the guidelines set forth for its use.
If for some reason, one of our staff deletes your posts or your account by mistake, please contact us.
We would not under any circumstances delete or ban any actual person without  contacting said person first. If you do get deleted by mistake, please contact one of us, and we will move quickly to correct the mistake. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience, but these things happen when trying to fight spammers.

The activity continues even after issuing tighter control. New users will not be allowed to post until I review each account.

It is important that I understand who you are when you register. If you use an alias for logon, an email that I do not recognize, and have an IP address that is suspicous or out of the area; I will probably not clear you for complete viewing and posting here on the forum.
Make sure you include your real name and WEGC membership number in your registration or an email to me. This will make it easier to cross reference you in the membership directory. If it is my opinion (from lack of submitted data) that you are a risk to the board, you will either be banned immediately or your powers to post will be limited. Sorry for any inconvenience. Legitimate users can use the board freely without these restrictions. I will continue to help keep this board healthy and free of problems for our club and use good discretion in approving new users. To date, not one legitimate user has been banned from the board.

525 spammers have been banned to date with attempts to wreak havoc, post porn, spam this site, or otherwise gain unapproved access to this site. It amazes me how many people in our world have nothing better to do than try to disrupt someone elses world. These unprovoked attacks are the reason we have the need for security at this site. WARNING; if you attempt to gain access here without proper authority, your information will be published in an attempt to stop you from causing problems with other sites. Your information will be shared with others and YOU will be blocked on those sites that share data. Do not attempt to spam this site if you do not want your information shared with other internet sites. You have been warned.
