“Precision Bolt Rifle” is designed specifically for the Bolt Action Shooter. Usually a quality built heavy barrel rifle with quality optics would be best for this match, however a quality hunting rifle can be used as well.
This match is designed to make the Bolt Rifleman more confident and become a more accurate shooter with the various COF’s (Course of Fire). We shoot at Steel outside of the “Fire Season”, but mostly paper targets and reactive targets such as balloons or clay pigeons. Targets are of all sizes and shapes.
We shoot on the Second Sunday of the month and begin at 0800 at one of the 3 firing lines. Our normal target engagements range anywhere from 25 to 600 yards and the match usually concludes around 1200-1300.
50 to 80 rounds is the average round count and there are usually 5-8 stages. Some stages are fired for precision with a long time element and others are done under a shorter time element. We also fire from various shooting positions, however mostly from the prone position.
Safety is paramount at West End Gun Club, all club safety rules will be recognized and enforced as well as any other safe firearms procedure rules.
The primary focus is to make you a better shooter with your rifle, so this match is a great way to practice those techniques that improve your bolt rifle skills.
