The Action Pistol match is held the 2nd Saturday of every month. Signups start at 8am with shooting starting around 9am. We shoot at both steel and paper targets. Typical ranges are from 3 yards all the way out to 50 yards on occasion. Typical equipment is a 9mm through 45 pistol with 4 or more magazines, a shotgun, eye protection, ear protection, holsters and magazine holders for above. Bring 200 to 250 rounds for your pistol, 25 to 50 shot shells and a box of slugs for the shotgun to round out your day. We typically run 6 courses of fire with at least one combo handgun and shotgun stage. Sunscreen and lots of drinking water are recommended during the summer months. The match is a cross between IDPA, IPSC and Soldier of Fortune 3 Gun competition. Some matches will include rifle shooting with a rifle and ammo provided by the match director. Shooting will be from many different positions, such as standing, sitting, prone etc… We also use cover and barricades on many of our stages. Every match is unique and we encourage you to bring your own stage design if you would like to run it for the match. Classes are available for Unlimited, Limited and Revolver, with sub classes of A,B,C and D based on Skill level. Guns with Compensators and optic sights run in unlimited class to even the field of more common factory type pistols running in the limited classes. High capacity magazines are more popular, but many stages will have a capacity limit of 10 rounds to keep the playing field level for the 10 round guns. Other stages will be “Revolver Friendly”, requiring only 6 rounds between reloads. You will get a lot of different experience from drawing, shooting, reloading, using cover and barricades at this match. We welcome first timers to come one out and give it a try. This in not a sanctioned match such as ISPC or Steel challenge, you will find more shooters here just for the fun of a day shooting their everyday stock service pistols. Fees run $20 for non members, $10 for members. Current military and police shoot half price if they use their duty rig and firearm. Prizes are awarded after the match for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each class as well as door prizes ranging from primers to slugs to club hats. ![]() |

Hi Folks!
My name is Cameron Wong and I’m the Director for the West End Gun Club Action Pistol Match. The Action Pistol Match is held on the second Saturday of every month. This is a IPSC style match with five pistol stages and one shotgun stage. The shotgun stage may be shot with a pistol if you like. The stages involve drawing from a holster, moving around the range ,shooting around walls and barricades. We use both paper and steel targets. The equipment needed are a safe holster ( one that will hold your handgun securely while moving around the range and covers the trigger guard on the handgun ) at least 4 magazines for the semi auto or speed loaders for you revolver shooters, and magazine or speed loader pouches.Eye and ear protection are also required. The typical course of fire is ,on average, 25 rounds per stage, so bring a minimum of 150 rounds of handgun ammo, 25 rounds of birdshot and 5 slugs.More ammo is always better. While some match shooting experience is helpful,we welcome first time match shooters to come out and give it a try. We’ll squad you with some of the more seasoned shooters that will walk you through the courses of fire. Sign ups start at 8am and we start shooting at about 8:45, and we’re usually done at about 12:30pm. Give me a call or email me if there are any questions I can answer for you. Cameron Wong
