House Turns Back Pelosi’s Anti-Gun Effort
An effort led by Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to bring gun control legislation to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives wasblocked on Thursday by the Republican majority on a 242 to 173 vote. Specifically, Pelosi sought to force a floor vote on a bill that would allow the federal government to use theerror-ridden terrorist watch list to prohibit gun sales in an effort to bring back failed gun control ideas in the guise of fighting terrorism. The Senate last week defeated a similar measure as well as an expansion of background checks in a revived Manchin-Toomey bill. NSSF worked as a resource for Members of Congress during this process and will continue to do so as the White House mulls executive orders to accomplish by fiat what his allies cannot get done legislatively on Capitol Hill. We will keep you fully informed of developments.
